Add new data with the data collector

Start enjoying the benefits of UpMetrics with feedback from the people that matter most to your organization.

One great way to gather data is to use surveys. The data collector acts as a customizable survey tool that you can use to build out surveys, advertise and share your survey, and then gather an expansive data set to analyze and leverage within UpMetrics. 

No data? No problem!

You don’t need to have a spreadsheet full of data to start using UpMetrics! Build a survey to share with the people your organization serves. Then, use their responses as raw data to analyze and leverage directly in our platform. 

Start collecting data


To start collecting data, you’ll need to open a data set from within the Collect section. 

  1. Select the data set where you’d like to add data.
  2. Select the + Data table button from the upper right corner.
  3. Select the option to Add data collector from the drop down menu in order to start building the survey you’ll use to gather data directly from your survey respondents!

Share your survey to collect data

  1. Once you’ve created a survey, continue to the next step and preview the survey you’ll send.
  2. To share the data collector’s survey, copy a link to it and share that link with the people you want to survey.
  3. Their responses will ultimately be stored under a new data table named after this data collector’s survey. 

Every survey that gets filled out will add a new row.

Manage who can see the survey


You can change who can see your survey by toggling the survey on or off. 

  1. Open the new data once you’ve launched the survey.
  2. Select the kebab Options menu in the upper right.
  3. If you’d like your survey from the data collector to be viewable, ensure this toggle is set to Enabled. Otherwise, your survey will not be viewable to anyone with the link.

Edit a survey you’ve already created

  1. Select the kebab Options menu in the upper right.
  2. Select Edit to reopen the survey editor.
  3. Continue to edit from the editor.

Deleting the data table with a survey’s results


To delete the results of a survey you’ve created with the data collector, you will need to delete the data table.

  1. Open the chevron menu to the right of the data set’s name that you’d like to delete.
  2. Then, select delete and confirm your selection to delete the data.
