How do I share Advanced Analytics dashboards among users in the same platform organization?
- “Draft” dashboards are private to dashboard owners / creators.
-
A “Published” dashboard will be shared with users who have Viewer, Editor, or Owner roles, if the user has access to data that is on that dashboard.
-
“Published” dashboards are still able to be edited by users with an Editor or Owner role.
-
What is a “permalink” and how is it different than copying and sharing a URL?
-
A permalink is a stable web address (URL) that ensures consistent access to a specific dashboard or chart. Unlike a regular URL, a permalink remains valid even if the dashboard or chart is moved, renamed, or modified within Advanced Analytics. This allows you to reliably share dashboards and charts, especially with specific filters applied. However, it's important to note that if a chart is updated, those accessing it via a permalink will not see the changes.
How do I share the most current version of a chart or dashboard?
-
While permalinks preserve charts and dashboards as they existed when created, you may want to share the most up-to-date version instead. To share the current version, simply copy the URL from your browser while viewing the chart or dashboard and share it with any teammate who has an UpMetrics account. They will need to be logged in to view this. This ensures they see the latest data and visualizations rather than a static snapshot.
Do dashboard and chart filters have "And" vs "Or" filtering options?
-
Dashboard filters use “AND” logic across filters. Within filters, it uses OR “logic” like when selecting multiple values within a dropdown list.
Why can’t I see changes made in my Collect data tables, reflected in Advanced Analytics?
- Advanced Analytics uses scheduled data synchronization to deliver stable, scalable performance for complex data operations. When data tables or their permissions are updated in UpMetrics, it may take anywhere from seconds to 4 minutes to fully sync across all systems.
Why can’t I see dashboards my teammates have access to?
-
Dashboards must be "Published" to be visible to anyone other than the creator. If a dashboard is still in "Draft" mode, only the dashboard owner can access it.
-
Your visibility is determined by your dataset permissions. You'll only see dashboards that use datasets you have access to, and if a dashboard contains charts from multiple datasets, you'll only see chart data from datasets you're authorized to view.
-
If you're seeing partial dashboards with some charts displaying "Unauthorized" errors, it's because you have permission to some but not all of the datasets used on that dashboard. Contact your Org Admin to request additional dataset access if needed.
Why do I see blank names or circle icons in Advanced Analytics?
-
Names (and initials) are pulled from the user profile in UpMetrics. Users who have a blank first and last name in their UpMetrics user profile will be represented this way across Advanced Analytics
-
How to change your name or password - To change your name, open Profile Settings and save your information to continue
How do I change a Metric label name in a Chart?
-
In Chart Edit Mode: Click on the metric you want to rename in the "Metrics" section
-
Click the pencil icon at the top of the pop up, right next to the current metric name
-
Enter your new Metric label
How do I format a value as a Percentage of Total (Contribution Mode)?
To display your data as percentages of the total:
-
Navigate to your chart in the chart builder
-
Click on the "Customize" tab in the control panel
-
Scroll down to find the "Contribution Mode" option
-
Select the Contribution mode you wish to use
Once selected, click Update and your chart will automatically recalculate all values to show each data point as a percentage of the total rather than absolute values.
Tip: This is especially useful for bar charts, area charts, and pie charts where understanding proportional relationships is more important than exact values.
What does "Show Cell Bars" do in table chart customization / Why does my table chart have shaded bars in it?
- Show Cell Bars adds visual mini-bars inside your table cells that represent the value's magnitude. When enabled, each numeric value in your table will have a colored background bar extending from left to right, with the length proportional to the value.
- This feature helps you quickly spot high and low values without having to read every number. The larger the value, the longer the colored bar will appear in the cell background. It's like having tiny bar charts right inside your table.
To enable this feature:
-
Go to the "Customize" tab in your chart settings
-
Find the "Show Cell Bars" option
-
Toggle it on
This is particularly helpful when you have tables with many numbers and want to identify patterns or outliers at a glance.
