Set up a report
Reports are created using the report builder in a five-step flow. This article covers the first step: naming the report, choosing its program, and setting how often it runs and when it opens.
Before you start:
-
Ensure your UpMetrics login is assigned an Org Admin or Editor role. Learn more about roles and permissions.
- Make sure the program for this report has been created.
Steps
- In the left navigation pane, click Reporting > Report Builder. The Reports screen displays.
- In the upper right corner, click Create new report. The report builder displays the Set up your report tab.
- Enter a name for the report in the Report name field.
- Select the program the report is associated with from the Program drop-down list. Each report can belong to only one program.
Related Article: Add or edit a program. - Select how often the report repeats, or that it's a one-time report, from the Report frequency menu. Options include monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, annual, and one-time.
- If the report is not a one-time report, select how long it runs from the Duration drop-down list.
- In the Reporting window area, use the Start and End calendar fields to set the time period your organizations are reporting on. The name of each reporting period is generated automatically.
- In the Submission window area, use the Opens and Due calendar fields to set when recipients can access and submit their report. Notifications go out on the open date. Note: These dates apply to all organizations by default. You can set organization-specific dates afterward in date customization.
- Once all the fields are complete, click Save changes at the top of the screen.
Understanding reporting window vs. submission window
- The reporting window is the time period the data covers, such as January 1 to December 31, 2025.
- The submission window is when organizations can fill out and submit the report, such as January 15 to February 28, 2026.
Tip: Think of it like taxes - your return covers last year (the reporting window), but you file it during tax season (the submission window).
